I am not writing this post to start a discussion or to get yelled at by those of you that I love but do not agree with.
As most of you know I am not an Obama supporter. I think his flowery words hid his inexperience and I think he misrepresented himself to get elected. That being said he is, as of today, our president and I respect him for that.
On another note, the amount of money that just got thrown away on a party that 90% of the US can not even attend was ludicrous! As a middle class citizen struggling to make ends meet I can not see how spending that money on a stupid party could be beneficial to us as a country. He said he was here to change things, this is just the same over spending on frivolities that our politicians have been doing for DECADES and that has helped put us where we are now!
People are calling this the biggest day in history... I think not! When we landed in America, that was a bit bigger then this is. When George Washington came out of his "retirement" to become the first president, that was bigger then this. When the constitution was finalized and accepted, I think maybe it was a bit bigger then this! Even in more recent history, The first day women could legally vote, the first school that was desegregated, the way we came together as a nation on 9/11, the day indoor plumbing was put in every new house that was built! The one thing they all have in common, it was hindsight that noticed theses were great days. Even 9/11 took a few months to see th epositive it brought out in us. It was not someones need to be all great and powerful or to make a bold statement. What right do we have to call today the greatest day in history when all this day brought was more spending, more debt and has done nothing to quiet the uncertainty of our futures. It is not one day but a culmination of work that make a great president, not a day of pomp and ceremony that is way over done!
Having hope is one thing, but taking credit for something that has yet to happen is pretentious.
Ok I feel a bit better now...........

But see, you are missing the point. At least you KNOW where the money is going--it's going to get people drunk, get "dates" for political hacks, and bail money for those that swear to god they didn't know that they had that in the car. Unlike the bailout money, you have no idea where that is.
And PS--the day that the Xbox went on sale was a very, very big day.
I stand corrected, by you Hoss and my DH. The day the X-Box was released was a major day in US history. It was the day that millions of wives across our vast country lost their husbands and gained instant teenagers!!! ;)
