So I have been procrastinating big time for the last week! I have had stuff to post and just haven't gotten around to it! So here is our week, from last Tuesday to predictions of tomorrow!
Last Tuesday we woke up to ice! Not like the ice storm of last month. For this ice we had gotten a good dusting of snow, which warmed us up a bit, turned to rain, which cooled us off enough to turn the rain and snow into a thin sheet of ice! Then is snowed some more so it looked like snow, not ice! Dad was nice enough to call me and warn me before I went anywhere.
Now I have laughed at dad and teased dad about his falling on ice. He has fallen at least 4 times in the last three years, twice this last December. Now I get to join those ranks with him! I picked Dylan up from school that afternoon, proud that I had walked across the parking lot without falling. (I even kinda bragged about it while talking to some of the other mom's at the school.) I usually park in the turnaround, but there were so many cars there I just parked in the parking lot that day. As Dylan and I left the school, I was telling him how he needed to be extra careful. When we stepped off the curb we both slipped a little but we were able to stay up right. I got a little confident as I stepped ahead of Dylan once we got between the van and the Scion that was parked next to me. I pulled out my keys and as I hit the unlock button I lost my balance and fell flat on my A$$!!! I had put out my left hand to catch me and ended up scraping my palm a little bit and jarred my arm pretty good. Thankfully my butt has enough padding that it didn't hurt to much! Dylan didn't fall, he just stood there looking down at me a little concerned. I was fully aware that the van was unlocked so if I used the door handle to pull myself up I would end up with the door open and be on my butt again. I braced myself on both hands and it took me 4 tries before my feet found purchase and didn't fly out from under me as I was trying to stand. All I can say is that thankfully because of where I was parked and the fact Dylan was standing right behind me, no one saw what I did! I did however decide that that act deserved a pack of cigarettes so drove through the convenience store and picked up a pack. I know I know, bad bad idea.....I have been pretty good since then though!
We have had bursts of snow here and there, enough that everything is either white or yellow, but no real accumulation. Tim didn't work Thursday night so we had to run to Kokomo Friday morning to pick up his paycheck. Since Greentown is right down the street we headed over there. Deven is going in for his 4 year check up and shots at the end of the month and I wanted the Dr's office to have all his records before the appointment. Greentown is very small but it looked like a nice community and had an Italian restaurant that looked promising!
We took back roads home again, it gave me a chance to practice driving on bad roads. I am feeling much more comfortable driving around. That afternoon Deven and I volunteered at the school and helped with lunch. Deven got to eat with Dylan and then he followed me as I helped the other kids open up their milk and bags of chips and so on. Deven was a good boy running to get straws and spoons for the kids that forgot them. We still have to work on his carrying the spoon by the handle!
The weekend was pretty uneventful, we just played games and watched some TV. The weather men had said we were going to have this big storm Friday night into Saturday afternoon....... We got almost NO snow at all! I guess the Weather men out here aren't any better then the ones in Cali, actually worse!
Last night we started to get some snow, not to much and as I write this it is snowing moderately. Tomorrow we are supposed to have blizzard like conditions! So we will have to see. The only way to really know the weather out here is to witness it yourself! I am kinda excited about a bit of a blizzard, we will see how I feel afterwards, if it happens!
