We have started to pack today! We finished cleaning out the garage and gave away all the old clothes and toys and some furniture to the people who live across the street. We realized we did not have the time for a yard sale so as I was looking through boxes this morning I put out all the stuff we were giving to goodwill. I thought someone might come by and see something and that would be less to take in the van. Lo and behold one of the ladies from across the street came over and asked and I told her it was all free. They didn't really speak English so it took a moment to get the idea across but when we had they gathered ALL of it and took it home. We had the toddler bed and a PS2 in there along with tons of books and clothes for the kids and maternity clothes. They had a good day and we are relived to have gotten rid of it so easy!
Seeing that we were in the mood we went and picked up the kids from my mom and bought some packing boxes. When we got home we put the kids down and raided the kitchen. We pulled out all the extras, baking dishes and plates for guests. Bowls and utensils and cook books that we do not need for a month or so and all of our DVD's got boxed up.
It is finally starting to hit home. Not much but I had a glimmer of the enormity of the move. Neither Tim or I have moved far before. Packing for this is different. The cupboards look bare with just 4 dishes and 4 glasses. The kids only have 4 bowls now. Every time I go into the kitchen I am reminded that it is just a month away! It is a daunting task but we are so excited to try this that it drives us on even when we are tired. Tim doesn't want to get to excited, just in case we do not get a job but even down that avenue we are seeing possibilities and opportunities open at every corner.
The kids are upset that they can't play in the boxes but they are helping where they can. This is alot for them and you can hear it in their attitudes. They don't quiet get the idea in full yet, but they will and I believe that this is a place where they can really explore and have a good childhood.
One more month!
