It is harvest time! The soy, for the most part, is burnt orange and devoid of all leaves. As you drive by you can see the little fuzzy bean pods hanging from the stems. The corn is brown and looks like rows upon rows of scarecrows that have lost their clothes, and heads, and sticks...... The stalks may be tan and look dead but the corn keeps getting bigger, some look as big round as a baseball! It does not look appetizing and Deven keeps trying to convince me all the corn is dead! It is a sight to see. The crops they have harvested leave behind smooth plains that allow you to see sights that have been covered by the tall stalks or have kept you mesmerized by the color and the movement in the breeze. It's all so different then it was a month ago!
We went to Ft.Wayne the other day, it is an hour drive and saw a few farmers out there harvesting their soy in their combines, I believe it's called a combine. So far we have missed any corn that has been harvested but I vow to take daily drives till we see it!!!!
Ft.Wayne was great on Sunday, it was our first family day out since we moved in to the new place. First we were moving then we were all sick. The day was bright and cool. About 72 degrees, a great day to wander an outdoor mall! We went to Barnes and Noble and Bed Bath and Beyond. We found some new stores and hope to go back in a week or so, without the kids to really look around.
We drove around and looked at houses and beautiful scenery. The trees are turning colors more and more everyday. My favorites are the trees whose trunks are wrapped with scarlet leaves and then the rest of the leaves are turning a pretty yellow. Driving around, I am in awe at the beauty of this place. After 4 months I still can't believe this idyllic little spot we moved to.
I have no camera at the moment, mine takes mostly blurry photos and I am not sure why but as soon as I can I will start taking photos again! I may have just tired it out with the thousands of pictures I have taken since, well since May!
