Headaches, Closets and Hornets, Oh My!

Well it has been a most interesting week! It started last Thursday when I got a killer of a headache from a muscle spasm in my left shoulder. It has come and gone since them, my stress levels not helping, the headache making the stress levels rise. I have been taking naps and going to sleep early. I think the kids think I am possessed, cause even though I am not the calmest mother in the world, this week my patience has been non-existent with the yelling and thumping and fighting.
Tim and I had our date night on Saturday so my dad kept the kids overnight. Unfortunately my headache wasn't sympathetic and accompanied us on our date. We drove out to Ft.Wayne, with a quick stop at a Walmart in Huntington for Motrin. We arrived at the mall, and browsed Best Buy and Pier One Imports. Then we headed over to a Christian book store, walked through a couple of clothes stores that had caught my eye the last time we were there. (Wouldn't you know, the day we don't have the kids and I can look at my leisure, even the clothes I liked last time held no interest for me!)
Then it was to Barnes and Noble where Tim and I splitt up and spent a wonderful hour browsing. I got a bio on George Washington, the second of a Trilogy about Merlin by Mary Stewart and a book about Sarah from Canaan, a biblical story by Marek Halter. After Tim drug me away we walked over to Panera Bread and had Coffee. I ordered my usual drink, Iced Caramel Latte and had to walk the girl through it. She didn't know how to make the Caramel Latte Iced!
Tim and I sat outside and discussed the bible and Merlin and the kids and then we decided to hit Bed Bath and Beyond and The Rustic Hutch and headed over to Smokey Bones BBQ for dinner! What a dinner, tender flavorful meat, great sides, awesome onion rings, wonderful atmosphere, you should all give it a try if it heads west! After dinner, at about 9:30 we headed home and listened to Tims new Nickleback CD. I haven't driven in the dark out here once so it was weird being on these roads with only my headlights and the Moon the show me the way. Very few streetlights anywhere, even on the main roads!
Sunday we got up and got the kids from dad's. They would have been happy staying there a bit longer but we had plans to walk Nickle Plate Trail so we got them and headed out. The weather was perfect for a walk and we walked for an hour. The sights were beautiful with the changing trees and the leaves piled up on the sides of the trail. We saw some cows and lots of birds. I will download the pictures on Flickr soon...http://flickr.com/photos/hopkinsfam/.
Sunday after we got back from lunch my head was killing me, the place was a mess and I had a short temper so we cleaned up and sat back to watch movies when we hear a huge crash from upstairs. I look over to make sure neither kid is upstairs climbing their dresser and when I am sure both boys are sitting downstairs Tim and I jump up. We look first in the boys bedroom but everything looks ok. So we look in our bedroom but that looks ok to. Tim and I look at each other perplexed then Tim opens the close door..... the shelf and bar have collapsed. The screws pulled out of the wall and a ton of our stuff has fallen behind the closet doors making it impossible to fully open them. We start emptying the closet, we have to pile all of our clothes in the boys bedroom on their toy box. We have piles of boxes and shoes on every available surface in our room and of course when the office opened on Monday we went in to tell them and they said they would send someone over after 3:30 to look at it but no one has come. Renting sucks!
So Monday except for still battling my headache the day was ok but this morning......
I got the boys up and ready and had to brush their hair and put in hairspray to keep their cow licks down. I thought about it while I was spraying their hair but figured it was so early in the morning we wouldn't have any problems with the hornets or the bees. I use Suave hairspray, unscented, unscented my BUTT! It attracts all types of stinging insects but I had no other hairspray. On the way to the bus stop we took a short cut, another mistake cause it took us right next to the garbage bins. I had the hornet around my head first and brushed him away, then Deven is screaming because it is near him so I swat at it and it fly's toward Dylan, while I am stepping toward Dylan to try to hit it better, ( I know your not to supposed to wave your hands or swat at them, bully on me) anyways I hear Deven start screaming "I've been stung". I turn around and Deven is in full panic so I grab him and tell Dylan to come and start heading for the apartment figuring Dylan can be late this morning. Dylan wanted to ride the bus though and asked me how he was going to get to the bus stop. I look up and our neighbor George was just stepping out and he walks his daughter to the bus stop every morning so Dylan went over and asked George if he could walk with them. I told George as I was walking up our walk that Deven got stung and George agreed to walk Dylan.
I got Deven inside and started looking for signs of swelling. My side of the family has a history of bee allergies. The area was red, about the size of my hand and had a white ring around a red dot. I saw no stinger and I am pretty sure it was not a bee. I called Tim since I could see no signs of an allergic reaction and we walked through what could be done. Deven didn't want me to touch it. That started another round of hysterics from him. I got him calm, hung up with Tim and got an ice pack on his back.
So far, except for asking me to carry around bug spray so we can kill any bugs that get near us, he seems to be fine! He has been walking around in my high heels and enjoying the extra attention. The redness has reduced and it seems to cause him no pain. Me on the other hand, my headache is trying to creep back. It was better this morning till the stress hit. So I am taking deep breathes and thinking calm thoughts!
How was your week????
