Friday the 13th

So usually Friday the 13Th is my lucky today, but today it was not! Now I am not saying I had a horrible day, it just started out crappy. I woke up and Tim and I weren't on the same page, he thought I was crabby, I was just groggy, and he got crabby because of it. I was supposed to go down to the BMV (DMV in Cali) to get my drivers license but that didn't go as planned. I got dressed and for the first time since we got here I did my hair and make-up. Don't need to help my DL picture look horrible! I get in the van and go. I have an idea where it is but I wasn't positive so I had to drive around for about 10 minutes to find it.
The BMV here is really small. There are 5 people who work the counters and about 10 seats for waiting. I walked in and was able to walk right up to the counter. I told the lady what I needed and she told me that I needed my Cali DL, my social security card, a bill with my name and new address on it and a certified copy of my birth certificate. Well I had all of it but my birth certificate! I came home near tears, I had been near tears before I left because the morning was just not going right. So I try to call Tim to have him start looking for me before I get home but he was not answering his phone. It is only a 3 minute drive to the BMV anyway I got home just after I hung up from trying to call Tim. I went through our lock box to no avail and then my mom had given me my memory box so I went through that but nothing! So I was unable to get that taken care of today and by the time all that was over with it was after 11 and Tim needed to take a nap at noon because he had work tonight. We had planned to go for a drive and learn the area a bit but there was no time. The kids were disappointed so I told them I would take them with me to Sam's Club and let them skip their nap if they promised to behave.
We had lunch and Tim went to bed and the boys and I went Shopping. The Sam's Club here is a bit smaller then the ones out in Cali but it was nice, there were a lot of familiar things there. There was even an Amish horse and buggy sitting in the parking lot in front of the bank that is in the same area as Sam's Club! Unfortunately we never got to see the driver :(. The boys were really good so we went to Target and got them some construction paper now that they have their scissors and crayons. They also got new Scooby Doo coloring books and I got my fathers day cards! When we came out it was raining pretty good and it was still warm, so we ran for the car and drove back to Peru. We went to Kroger's and picked up a roast for dinner and some other items and then came back to dad's.
When we got back the boys watched old Garfield cartoons while I read. Tim woke up about the time Dad got home and then Tim and I started making dinner. I got to spend some quality time with Tim and Dad and so did the boys. Dad played a version of War, (the card game) with the boys for quite some time as Tim and I cooked. The roast was cooking slow and I was worried that it wouldn't be done in time for Tim to enjoy it, but it was. We sat down to a nice family dinner and then Tim got ready for work.
When Tim came down stairs I had to take a second look. Apparently his Norelco shaver was set on 5, to keep his goatee long but it didn't cut like that so now he has barely any fuzz on his face! I just couldn't stop staring, it makes him look totally different! It's not that it looks bad, it just gives his face a different shape.
After he went to work I took the boys upstairs to wind down and get in their pajama's and Dad came up to use his computer so I grabbed Deven and Dad got Dylan and we tickled the boys till ours ears were ringing from the screaming and laughing! It was a fun evening and both boys passed out as soon as their heads hit the pillows!
So it may have started bad but it has ended good. I sat on the back patio with Dad for awhile this evening just chatting and enjoying the nip that was in the air from the storm. It is supposed to start raining again tonight and most of tomorrow. So far nothing bad enough here for any kind of flooding, that is still all South of us.
Tomorrow we are going to try video chatting with mom on-line, this way she can see the boys and the boys can see her! We are really looking forward to that. Afterward we are going to drive around a bit. I saw a little stream off S1075, (its a small street) that I want to photograph. I also promised Jen I would do a photo project with her called 365. The premise is to take one pic a day of each boy for 365 days to see the difference in the kids and in my photography. So I will get a few shots of them tomorrow and get that started.
We are enjoying it out here. There are some things to get used to, mostly the brands of food that they have out here. Thank Goodness they carry Rosarita re-fried beans! The stores are set up very differently also so I find myself having to go up and down every isle even if I only have 3 things on my list!
So that is the update for now. It is nearing bedtime for me. Oh and Gas prices went up here yesterday from $3.99 to $4.19! Ouch, but not as bad as you that are in Cali!!!!!
